High Security European Profile Knob Cylinder

The ABUS VLR11 knob cylinder is designed to secure the main entrance door of a house or apartment. It combines the security of a high-resistance cylinder on the outside (key side) with the ergonomics of an interior thumb-turn for fast keyless opening from inside.

Clutch Function

The VLR11 knob cylinder features a clutch mechanism: it remains possible to open and close the door from the inside (thumb-turn) even when a key is inserted in the lock from the outside. Essential for fire safety and emergency evacuation.

  • To an existing number: a cylinder made to your existing number, so it works with your current keys
  • Master-key system extension: to integrate a new cylinder into an existing master-key system (to equip a new door or replace a cylinder) — it will work with your sub-master keys (PP), grand master keys (PG) and central opening (OC)

Understanding master-key systems

  • Grand Master Key (PG): a single key that opens all the cylinders in the system
  • Sub-Master Key (PP): a key that opens part of the cylinders (one floor, one department…)
  • Central Opening (OC): in an apartment building, the same key opens your flat and the main entrance door
